Laparoscopic Surgery

  Laparoscopic Surgery  |  Reconstructive Surgery

Laparoscopic surgery has been acceptable in the management of cancer in the last few years. There is data from studies showing equivalent results with reduced morbidity. It is important that the surgeon is basically a trained surgical oncologist and also has training in laparoscopic surgery. This is so that a correct overall plan of treatment is made, the selection of the correct procedure (open or laparoscopic) based on the type and size of tumor is made, and the execution is on oncologic principles.

A multitude of surgeries can be done laparoscopically, some of which done at our centre are

Radical hysterectomy for cervical and uterine cancers,

APR for rectal cancers.

Laparoscopic assisted colonic resections,

Nephrectomy for small kidney cancers.

Adrenalectomy for adrenal tumors.
